VASRAT LANGDI GUY SHAHANI (IN A FLOCK OF CALVES, EVEN A LAME COW APPEARS WISE)
Guess what guys… We were just going through the Goajourno archives. And we found this bit...
As you may have figured, ths small tidbit is about Frankey Fernandes who used to string for NDTV from Goa.
From the looks of it… It does seems that either Frankey has positioned himself as an anchor for NDTV or the organisers have been led to believe that Frankey anchored for NDTV. As far as we can remember, Frankey was a stringer wasn’t he? He couldn’t be NDTV’s full time employee cause he worked in the Public Relations Department of the Mormugao Port Trust? A government servant.
Did he work with the Indian Express and Times of India too? Does anyone know if he has? The manner in which details have been peppered, looks like the organiser borrowed these details from Frankey’s resume.
And did you mark this… It appears that working with the NDTV does lend you those celebrity pips, especially when it comes to playing host at these vague dance nights… Any of you wish to make a career out of 'Emceeing', join a news channel guys... you'd be a hit overnight... See, it been done before... ;)
NDTV anchor Frankey to host Dance Nite in Kuwait
Kuwait: NDTV anchor Frankey Fernandes will host the 6th Social Event of Goan Entertainment Club in an unique ambience on 6th Sept 2007, at Kuwait's Fakher Al Deen Palace, starting 8:30 pm onwards.
Frankey needs no introduction to Goans worldwide. A successful journalist in the print and electronic media, Frankey made a humble beginning at a young age of 16 when he began to work for the daily Gomantak times in 1992 and since then has never turned back. Frankey also worked with O Herald, Times of India, Indian Express, All India Radio, Doordarshan and now with the NDTV (Asia's best English News Channel) watched by millions of viewers across the globe.
It was in 1985 that Frankey was first spotted as a talented compere during a school gathering at Regina Mundi Christian Bros School in Chicalim, Goa and even before he could complete his High School studies he was compering shows in Goa. Soon the master compere found himself invited to perform in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai, Austrialia, Kuwait, Dubai, Singapore, etc. Over the years he has anchored around 3000 musical events.
Top assignments successfully handled by Frankey are Sony Entertainment Channel's 'Boogie Woogie' dance competition and Channel V's Road Show in Goa featuring international repute pop-stars. Frankey's presence will pep-up Goa's topmost band the 'FOREFRONT', Kuwait's sensational 'Soul Shakers' and 'DJ John' who are set to rock the NITE. Highlight of the event will be a Jive Competition. Lots of surprises and prizes in store. Circle the date on your calendars and don't miss it for the world -- something different from all past events in Kuwait.
