THE NAVHIND CRIMES -- BIRDS OF THE SAME FEATHER STUCK TOGETHER

Hi there guys, sorry we took a while. But we had to meet Juze Cardozo’s lawyer today morning. You heard about Juze Cardozo haven’t you? The guys who’s been accused of molesting a 11-year-old girl in South Goa. We read it in The Navhind Times.
Ok, like we were saying, we met Juze’s lawyer at Children’s Park Campal. He’d called us pricks up earlier, saying he had something to tell us. We wondered what was it he had to say. He also insisted that he would meet only one prick and that we shouldn’t have company around us. We thought about it for a while and then decided that the toughest of us pricks go out to meet him.

When we met him at Children’s Park. He standing under a pine tree, chewing on what appeared to be a pine leaf. He led us through the thicket on to the beach where there is that huge fallen piece of driftwood. When the prick asked him why couldnt we meet in a café in Panjim, he insisted that he wanted to keep this meeting a secret. He sat down on this log, wiped his glasses with what appeared to be a withered remnants of a bail application. And then said that he wanted to discuss his client's defence strategy with us. This is how he went about it.
“In the same way, US renegades sought refuge in Mexico and militants in Kashmir used Pak Occupied Kashmir as their safe haven, it appears that The Navhind Times too takes kindly to menfolk accused of molestation,” the attorney claimed. When we asked him to justify what he said, he went on to illustrate his reasoning.
“You don’t seem to be reading these very newspapers you critique about. So much for your diligence. See, the editor of the newspaper himself has a molestation case against him. And yet he sits pretty.”
We told him that this was old hat.
“Will you let me finish? Haven’t you been reading the paper on Saturdays?” he shot back?
“There, there... I think they overrate you as a media critiquing blog. You guys are a bunch of inflated egos... Haven’t you read Vaman Naik’s column in the Saturday issues? Despite the molestation accusation Vaman Naik continues to write his career counselling column. Didnt you guys notice it?”
We kept a straight face. “So what is your strategy exactly?”
“Well I have a great plan here. I have asked my client to send in an application to The Navhind Times for the job of a sub editor. In case it’s not available, we are even open to a position of a columnist on issues related to gender sensitivity. We are sure it will work. He'll get the job. And once he's with The Navhind Times, no one dare touch him.”
We shrugged our shoulders a bit and asked him if Juze had any qualifications that could accompany his resume?
The lawyer very confidently replied. “Of yes, a XII std passing certificate and a copy of the FIR of the rape case against him. That's a notch higher than the mere molestation charges against the Editor Arun Sinha and Vaman Naik... Do you think it'll work?”
When this prick came back and told us about this we were stumped about this Vaman Naik bit.
We had indeed missed out on this. To give you a quick recap, Dr Vaman Naik principal of the SS Dempo college of Commerce (A Dempo run institution like The Navhind Times) had been accused of molestation by a lecturer teaching in the same college a short while back.
And can you beat this, Vaman writes a career-counselling column in The Navhind Times. We’d still love to give him a benefit of doubt until some days back. But now, even the Goa State Commission for Women has endorsed the complaint and says Vaman guilty of sexually harrsing this lady lecturer who was working there on a temporary basis. The report, excerpts from which were reproduced in the Weekender claims that the complainant was sexually harassed by Vaman Naik "as he has exhibited on several occasions unwelcome sexually determined behaviour towards her, both directly through his conversation about sex, blue films…"
And it does looks like The Navhind Times columnist Vaman took his career-counselling credentials very seriously cause the GSCW report claims that he also peppered the victim with “queries about her personal sex life with her husband, physical advances and by advising her to have an abortion.”
Man how pervert is this?

But the issue which nags us more is, despite the fact that these findings were published some days back, Vaman continues to counsel students on career related matters in The Navhind Times.
It was just an accusation till some days back, but now it has the endorsement of an organ of the state. And yet the newspaper continues the column. Will someone survey around Goa and show the Dempos a place where they can mine some ‘shame’, along with the manganese and iron they’ve been drilling the earth for all these years.
They really should be ashamed at the way things are going.
A newspaper with an alleged molester for an editor and a molester as a career columnist. What next a serial killer running ‘your forecast for the day' column?
And if you are convinced with what we’ve written out here, do call em up and speak your mind to them/or you could also call them, if you want to listen to their side of the story... here are some numbers on which you could get the guys who’ve kept the story from you...
Arun Sinha -- Editor, The Navhind Times -- 0832-6651120 and 0832-6651123 (direct line)
The Navhind Times news desk -- 0832-6651119 (Ask for Assistant Editor Arun Srivastva)

In today's (Sun, Oct 28) NT, we have Mario Cabral e Sa shilling for the tourism industry. The Russians aren't really bad folks, he tell us, except for a few rotten apples. And those whites who have settled in Divar, Chorao etc? Well, they are very friendly characters who always have a warm word or two for the locals. Wah, Mario-bab, wah! Pass the beer and those masala cashewnuts, please.

Chandrakant Keni does another soul-stirring number. Digu and Manu, he pleads, ought to come together for the sake of Goa. Keni-bab gets so wet with emotion that at one point I had to reach for my hankie to wipe off that tear forming at the base of my left eye.

If you can, please read more about the Chairperson of GSCW on the link http://penpricks.blogspot.com/2007/09/input-from-reader.html

Let innocence or guilt be proved in Court! Media in Goa has no credibility. So why should their reports, have any?... even if they repeat something ad nauseum a la Joseph Goebbels it does not alter facts!

What about the lady tutor and the 7 & 9 year old boys?

u guys are real jokers without any job... Don’t take offence. No wonder outsiders thrive on Goan soil. You guys want to judge others. If you guys are so good come out in the open… face the public…it’s better to be in the open rather being a snake underneath the grass. Don’t be scared.. if you guys are true…no one can point a finger at you guy… you guys call your self prick’s…do you really have one?

Was that supposed to be satire? If so, very badly done indeed.

AWESOME PENPRICKS!! I mean at least someone out there is ready to speak the truth. No doubt that these cases are a perfect examples of misuse of money and power by Dempos, but a large section of the teaching and student community is also to be blamed for their insensitivity.Their laid back attitude and unwillingness to voice opinion/concern has led to a situation where these crony capitalists and their "chamchas" get away with serious offences.

Indeed, the Dempo is always saving its skin from all the 'dust' that comes from his mine. It may be from Bicholim mines or here the city mine of Navhind Times.

Firstly, they saved their editor, Arun Sinha who was accused of molestation some times back. It seem that the paper has become a heaven for the Goan molesters.

The Gomantak Times had earlier shown a better judgement in this regard when it had immediately sacked their bureau chief who was accused of involving rape case.

As regards to Navhind Times this should not comes as a suprise.

Hi Anonyomous with the
http://penpricks.blogspot.com/2007/09/input-from-reader.html tag.

A court's job is to pass judgements. The media's job is to represent facts and that includes reporting judgements too. You have completely missed the import of the Penpricks birds on the same feather story and have vented your anger with an unqualified retort. The issue of Penpricks lacking credibility does not arise here. What the blog has done is merely report the endorsement of a judicial body. The GSCW Act in a sub clause clearly states "Any proceedings before the Commission shall be deemed to be a judicial proceedings within the meaning of sections 193 and 228 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (45 of 1860) and the Commission shall be deemed to be a Court for the purpose of section 195 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974)." The GCSW has already proven Vaman's guilt.Further making an analogy of Vaman's case with the lady tutor case is as incomprehensible as comparing chalk with cheese. Both may have been convicted of sexual misdemeanours but in Vaman's case he has the backing of Arun Sinha as a career consultant. That too despite the GSCW judgement. The blog is not repeating a lie a la Goebbels. It is just hammering in a fact.My guess is Vaman and Arun would function very well as blue movie consultants. They could probably prove that to be a fact for you!

Hi,
Is this blog a humour in reverse mill? We have Chandrakant Keniso getting so wet with emotion that Rajan P Parrikar had to "reach for my hankie to wipe off that tear forming at the base of my left eye." Shouldn't tears be flowing down Keni's cheeks? And why is R P Parrikar getting emotional too? When was a burea chief of the Gomantak Times sacked for alleged rape. Could the anonymous investigator please throw some more light on this undisclosed incident? And Pricks, please don't get stuck on the same feather again and again. Update the blog regularly. Continue the chase but keep the momentum.

Hi Anon @ 30 October 2007 00:04
(The following is based on reports appearing in the print media)

1.The GSCW did not permit the accused to have his say.

2.There was no medical examination performed on either the alleged victim or the accused. Neither did the victim demand for one. So the remark about abortion seems out of place.

3.Why hasn't the GSCW handed down the punishment? (If as per your uncontested claim it is a deemed court)

When was the last time you saw a serving Court judge election campaigning? (You may kindly have a look at today's english edition of GT. Turn to page A2 & have a good look at the person sitting to the right of AICC secretary Sanjay Bapana.)

Why does the print media refuse to name the lady tutor while it seems thrilled to name Vaman? The lady tutor has 2 (alleged) victims while Vaman has (allegedly) just 1.
