A RAY OF HOPE... GONE

The chairman of PRESS COUNCIL OF INDIA, Justice (Retd) G N Ray who was in Goa recently spoke a lot without really saying anything. We are not even suggesting that the PCI is a toothless body.

In Indian culture, talking without saying anything is considered intelligent. (Those who have Portuguese/other influence in being upright, honest and straight talking better adjust or face the consequences)
Just as kids being deceitful, as shown in TV commercials, are portrayed to be smart.

An amature might be amazed by fancy talk, but someone who has a little experience in life knows that such persons only want cash or free accomodation and of course the sight seeing tour... oh yes...for FREE.

Don't be surprised if some of his/their chelas set up shop in Goa... leveraging on positions of power/influence.

It's amusing watching some of these blokes making a fanatical beeline to the beach, that too with long pants, beer in hand and in the mid-day sun! They never seem to be able to keep to timings, much to the annoyance of the bus/tour operator.

It is common for these chaps to bring their spouses(bullies in general) for a free ride.

What about the other chap in the picture the Chief Secretary, he went to New York to represent 'India at 60'. What did Goa gain by his visit?

In conclusion, though not many are fooled, they get their free ride!

i dont why and how but lately PCI has been slightly effective... the operative word being effective. i am not even going to question the stuff on free rides. but apparently they have given a stern order against TOI... the nation's largest selling daily (the jury is still out on this one). a suit was slapped by the govt about a report and TOI was forced to carry an apology in all editions. oh alright... it was just a two-liner inside the "briefly" box but still... a beginning. or maybe i m being too optimistic.
