OUR FLAG'S AT HALF MAST (YA, BUT ONLY FOR A DAY)

Like we say in our header. Our flag is at half mast.
We have lost readership by about 20 per cent as of day before yesterday. Why? Cause Herald has disconnected the internet connection to the computer terminals in the editorial section.
Only two terminals have been allowed an internet facility now. One manned by trusted lieutenant Melvyn and the other by person who does the pages for Herald's magazines, where downloading stuff from the internet is necessary.
The only other connected terminal is the one in the editor Robin Abreu's cabin. Hey, you'd think with all the plagiarising Robin indulges in, he'd survive without the internet?
Anyway... what were we talking about? Ya, our decline in readership.
Now why would one switch off the internet in a newspaper office. It would be vain to suggest that the very fact that this penpricks blog was pretty much a hit at the Herald that such a drastic step was taken by the bosses there. Of course there will be other things said. Like for example, "ooooh do you know the amount of porn that was being downloaded?" Or "these guys just keep on chatting on msgs" and such.
But the more these guys try to squelch us, the more eager folks will be to read Penpricks.
Cheers to that...

There are so many ways to connect to the internet.
Blackberry phones, simple phones to connect to the computer or the simplest of them all is just to visit one of those 24 hour cyber cafés.

I think the move is just to make things a little more difficult for the Herald staff.

Heard porn is like an alcohol or drug addiction. You get a high from it the first time, then you just need it to maintain your sanity. Just throw it away.. delete it. If this allegation is indeed true, perhaps we the reader will get better quality articles since you will have more time to improve the printed articles.

Hope to see more posts soon.

Unfortunately, the same sitaution prevails in other newspapers, too, with limited internet connections being provided to the staff.
Probably, the management is still trying to curb costs??? by restricting internet usage that is part of modernisation in the media industry.
The mentality of some managements never change.
