HANG ON GUYS... THE TURKEY'S IN THE OVEN

Hi guys, sorry we've been a bit patchy of late. Just that we've been focussing our attention on a few significant stories on the media which need a lot of attention. That doesnt mean we are going to ignore all the filth that's been flowing in print for the last few days. We have it all canned, sealed and disinfected it and will bring it before you soon.
But before that, we'd like to inform you that one of the stories that we are working on (hope we manage to work it out) may result in a few ideals coming down with a crash. It deals with one of the biggest and most 'respected' based media moghuls and one of the most recognised face of Indian television news.
One of the other stories rips out the heart of a purported 'big story' that was broadcast on national television some time back.
We trail off this note with a touch of irony.
This here is one of Herald's Robin Abreu's editorials on the Uphaar judgement. Robin claims that the judgement should spell out a warning for all owners and managements to put in proper systems and precautions in place to prevent mishaps.
Strange, has anyone ever seen a fire escape in the Herald building? And what about the illegal floor right at the top? And has the clearance from the fire department for the Herald's building finally come through?
Or is it another Uphaar waiting to happen?

There was a passing mention of the fire department... So I thought perhaps I should give you guys a peep into the functioning of the otherwise glossy on the exterior department.

1. The department ran like a dictatorship under it's previous director. He consistently increased his wages legally. Changed promotion rules frequently and whimsically to favour his cronies.

2. If I may jog your grey cells, you might recall a fire engine stationed outside the Osia Multiplex, Margao. The story is that the owner one Mr. Khotari had to pay hefty fees for it. The only objection that the fire dept. had raised, was that the stairwell was too narrow and might result in a stampede, incase of an emergency. Notwithstanding, the fact that the building had and still has, all the required fire equipment.

3. An exercise for someone who wants to test what I say first hand. Get a hold of someone who is trying to get a fire clearance for his bldg(3+floors). You will discover the department recommends you visit only certain fire equipment vendors (read kickback cronies) to get your licence.

I'm a fair person. These guys were professional and timely when I had called them on 101. They are marvelous to the ordinary citizens. Vampires to businessmen!

Hats off to Herald for being the pioneer in selling off their 'hallowed' front page, via the Thursday 22nd November issue. It indeed is a proud day for Goan (probably Indian even) media. I look forward to the day when we shall finally have the news section as a add-on compliments to the daily! Kudos to Robin for leading the way!

What do you mean by Kudos to Robin for leading the way.

I would rather say - Kuddo Robin for leading the Herald boys from lightness to darkness.

Robin seems to be improving of late. Yesterday's editorial titled "Aliens in Goa" is an original.

However the "meet global challenges" written by a reader, called Adv. Vrunda Kubal form Mapusa, day before yesterday seems suspicious. Is it an alias for Robin or does this advocate really exist?

Would someone familiar with Mapusa give a response?
